Shimobe Hotel

The rooms are really spacious, and the views all around are wonderful. There are nice onsens inside, plus a shower and bath in the room for anyone who doesn’t like Onsen. The staff were kind and helpful, and the service was excellent. Unbelievably nice hotel. Breakfast and dinner were great too, and I highly recommend them.

After climbing Mt. Fuji the day before, my family had a good rest here and really enjoyed our time. It’s easy to reach by car. The owner clearly wants families to have an enjoyable stay, with free ice lolly and drinks after a bath, fun game stalls, and a drum performance. The facilities were tidy and well maintained, including the hot spa. Staff were polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast and dinner weren’t huge, but the local dishes were delicious and satisfying. A very warm, nice hotel. Date visited: 1 Aug.

The room was clean and spacious, with a lovely view. I enjoyed watching the birds and feeling the spring breeze through the window. It’s a nice place to unwind, and I’ll return. The hotel is a little expensive and kid-friendly, with lots of nighttime activities for them, though those come at a fee. The food was average for my taste, and it’s not very vegetarian-friendly, though there is a small variety. The onsen was okay. The men’s and women’s onsen switch daily. I only went once, so maybe next time I’ll try the paid onsen next door.

The staff, especially at the bar, were so kind and accommodating even though we were tourists. They made us feel at home and helped make our proposal memorable, and I want to thank them personally. The onsens were superb, with lots of options. My favorite was the outdoor footbath and its view. The buffet food was delicious, and the drum show and mochi-making event were fun to watch.
