Misawa Highland Hotel

Breakfast starts at 5:45 AM, which is handy if you’re up early, and the homemade side dishes are delicious. The desk is on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. The room amenities feel a little dated, but everything was clean. Staff at the front desk are cheerful and friendly, and free parking is a nice extra. Misawa has some good hotels! 👍

The older gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. The rest of my first stay was less pleasant: the hotel felt quite old, the closet had an unpleasant smell, and the room lighting was dim. Breakfast choices were limited, with no bread, fruit, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, or omelets. A young couple even left without eating.

I really enjoyed Bihani, the Nepalese restaurant in the same building. It’s tasty and convenient. Breakfast at the hotel was good too, with a different spread each day, home-style flavors, and nothing too strong. The bathroom is old, but there’s a hot spring within walking distance in Misawa, so that wasn’t an issue for me.

A lot of nearby restaurants are closed on Sundays because of the location, so you may end up at McDonald's or Yoshinoya. I stayed one night for work and found the price reasonable and the hotel clean and well maintained. Free parking was a big help with my large car. There was free coffee, a water dispenser, a microwave, and a washer and dryer for longer stays. The staff were helpful, and I had no complaints. It’s perfectly fine as long as you’re not expecting a luxury resort.
