Mito Hotel Season

The staff made this place feel warm and personal, like a pension inside a tourist hotel. Everyone I met was kind and pleasant, and you could tell they were putting in real effort. The heartfelt breakfast was delicious, too. It isn't a buffet; it comes as shown in the photo, with free refills of rice and miso soup. The serving was plenty even for men, and I was glad to find Mito natto. The pork miso soup was full of ingredients and very satisfying. There were lots of thoughtful extras: free beer and sake, Umai-bo snacks, plenty of amenities, snacks you could take freely (?), an ice cream buffet I missed, and manga rentals at no charge. The manga selection had lots of popular titles, and I wanted to read more. After checkout we could stay in the observation lounge past noon, where we read manga, played Othello♪, and enjoyed the view. There aren't many tall buildings nearby, so it was lovely. We came for an event at Lake Senba. The hotel is less than a 10-minute walk from Mito Station, though Lake Senba was about 20 minutes away on foot, a bit farther than we'd hoped. There's parking above and below ground. It's also next to a convenience store, with a well-kept river in front. The outside of the building looks a little old, but the renovated rooms are clean. There were some cracks in the bathroom, though they didn't cause any trouble while using it. The TV was a good size, mounted on the wall where it was easy to watch from bed. The main annoyance was the really slow Wi-Fi. Getting connected was stressful💦. The price is reasonable and the service is great, so I'd recommend it if you're visiting Mito.
