Hale Hotel Miyakojima

It’s a calm, clean place in a good location, with a clean room, air conditioning and all the necessary amenities. The value is very good. There’s no elevator, the bed is a little hard, and the outdoor stairs get really slippery when it rains, so be careful.

Really good value, especially for a longer stay. It’s in a quiet area, with parking for motorcycles and cars. The staff are friendly, and the Wi-Fi is fast.

Food is easy to find here, with lots of izakayas within a 10-minute walk and a good breakfast spot across from the parking lot. There’s parking about two minutes away, which is a real plus in this busy city, though the walk there is a bit hilly. The neighborhood itself is quiet and residential. Check-in and check-out are contactless. I stayed three days and didn’t see any staff. The room was a standard size, though a little dim because there aren’t many lights. The air conditioning was already on when I arrived. There’s no elevator, which I knew when I booked. Fresh towels were left in a bag on the door each day, and used ones go in the hallway recycling bin. Amenities are self-service on the first floor, and there’s a free laundry room downstairs. The fridge even had a bottle of Orion beer, which was great! 👍🏾 There’s also a luggage locker for check-out. Getting the hot water going was a little complicated, but the bathroom instructions made it manageable. I saw someone mention “north,” though I’m not sure if that means near North 3 Elementary School?

For an extended stay, the kitchen supplies make it easy to cook: there are deep, medium-deep, and shallow plates, cups and mugs, plus two of each kind of cutlery. Knives, kitchen scissors, and kitchen paper are there too. There are only two hangers, so I found folding hangers very useful to bring along. I also ended up buying plastic wrap, a microwave rice cooker, a Brita bottle for making tap water drinkable, a flooring sheet (sticks are available in the public rental corner), and fabric softener. The shower pressure at its highest setting was amazing. It’s so strong it actually hurts to touch.
