Minshuku Yona Pahare (miyakojima)

We spent one night here on our honeymoon. The room was simple, quiet, clean, and had what we needed, so it felt relaxing and homey. I especially loved the home-cooked local dinner, served on pottery called 'Yachimun'. That pottery has been a favorite of mine ever since. I hope to stay here again someday with my son.

I’d been hoping to stay here for a while and finally got to. Two nights starting October 13th still felt too short. The food was delicious, the room was clean, the cat was cute, and the price was reasonable. I also enjoyed talking with the owner late into the night. We both like alcohol, so that worked out perfectly, and it’s rare to have that kind of conversation with guesthouse staff. The landlady was kind and welcoming, which helped me feel at ease. I liked the warm, family-like feel of the place, and how the owner cooks while the landlady handles the cleaning and serving. I’ve stayed at a lot of guesthouses on Miyako Island, but this atmosphere stood out. It was my first time seeing all-you-can-drink awamori (Okinawan liquor) at such a reasonable price, too. I even got a photo of the cat with awamori (Okinawan liquor), a really heartwarming sight. When I travel, I like to take my time without worrying about the clock. I think I’ll be back regularly, so please take good care of me.

We stayed here on the last day of our 3-night, 4-day honeymoon, and I wish we’d had longer. We’d been going from one izakaya (Japanese pub) to another on Miyako Island, but after the dinner and breakfast here, my husband and I said, “This is the kind of food we wanted to eat in Okinawa!” The meals went well beyond what we expected, even after reading the reviews. There was plenty of fresh fish caught that day and local food, and the meals the husband prepared showed so much care. The couple who run the inn were incredibly kind, and the service felt warm and welcoming. The price was very reasonable, too. Our bedroom was set up to prevent dampness, and we had a quiet, relaxing stay. I’d thought I might never return to Miyako Island, but now I want to come back just to stay here again. If you’re wondering which inn to choose, I absolutely recommend this one. The food, drinks, and rooms were all fantastic.

The inn is surrounded by sugarcane fields, and at night the sky feels like a natural planetarium. It’s also just steps from beautiful Yonaha Maehama Beach. The owners are a wonderful couple, and the rooms are clean and incredibly comfortable. I keep coming back to Miyakojima because I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else. Five stars don’t feel like enough. The food is amazing both morning and night, and breakfast keeps me full until evening. It’s also easy to chat with friends here.
