Hotel Local Base

We stayed in early April at this property with nine cottages and a cafe. The cottages were clean and felt luxurious, from the bed and washroom to the toilet and shower. The overall approach is simple, with unnecessary things left out, while the equipment they do provide feels carefully selected. You can replenish the amenities yourself as needed. It’s a peaceful place to unwind, with birdsong and a nice terrace to sit on. For breakfast, we went to LB Cafe next door. The setting was sophisticated and the menu was high quality, so we were very satisfied. The main drawback is that breakfast service starts at 8:30. I went to Higashihennazaki for sunrise and took an early walk at Yonaha Maehama Beach, which helped fill the time until it opened. Family Mart and a gas station are about two minutes away by car. The town center and airport take around ten minutes, and you can drive to anywhere on the island in about 30 minutes. It feels like an ideal base if you want to explore Miyako’s sights by car.

We stayed one night with our pet. The room was very clean and well maintained, and the price was surprisingly affordable. We were comfortable, and the indoor and outdoor showers were useful after time at the beach. The washer and dryer were appreciated too. It’s a little far from downtown. If you want to go out for dinner, a shuttle can take you home for around 1,000-1,500 yen. Breakfast from HASABA Coffee was delicious. We had some trouble with the room facilities that evening, but the service made up for it and we were very grateful. We also appreciated being able to use parasols and other amenities for free at Maehama Beach. If I had one request, it’d be to have spare pet toilet sheets in the room.

We arrived around noon even though check-in wasn't until 3:00 PM. They took our bags and gave us the room keys, even though the room wasn't ready yet, then said they'd bring the luggage up after 3:00 so we could go straight to the room when we came back. The lobby bathroom let us change, and we headed right out to two different beaches. Everything was lovely. The hotel was clean despite being surrounded by nature, parking was easy, and the included breakfast was delicious every day.

Breakfast at the cafe was delicious, and it was busy with both locals and other visitors early in the morning. We stayed one night and, perhaps because it was rainy season, hardly saw any other guests. It almost felt like the whole place was ours. The cottage was reasonably priced, the room was comfortable, and the grounds had stylish facilities. There was a booking mix-up that slowed check-in, but they sorted it out quickly. The toiletries were their own products rather than standard business-hotel supplies, and they smelled great. Having a washer-dryer in the room was really useful, and it seems you can borrow beach towels even after checkout. The room view isn't much since the property isn't right on the beach, but it's near a convenience store and Don Quijote. The city center is about a 15-minute drive away, handy for going out for drinks or picking up snacks to eat in the room. It's roughly in the middle of Miyako Island, so it seemed like most places on the island were about 20 minutes away.
