What made this Mr. Kinjo location special for me was being within walking distance of the beaches and the lovely restaurants I wanted to try. It's a simple, clean, inexpensive place, and the Mr. Kinjo hotels are much alike. The young man from Nepal who worked every day from 3 PM until closing was especially helpful. He went out of his way to arrange an early morning ride to the airport when taxis weren't available. Without his help, I would've had to walk there in the rain at 6 AM and wouldn't have made it.

The approach to the hotel is awful, with no paved route from either side, just a dirt road full of holes and rocks. They also charge 1,000 yen per night for parking, which can make other choices cheaper in the end. Check-in is only allowed until 8 pm, which really limits your flexibility before arriving.

I stayed eight days in the building farther back. The worst issue was the pillow, which smelled so much like old-man body odor I felt sick. I had to put a valuable face towel over it to sleep. The washing machine was old and used detergent automatically, but sand-stained socks still came out with brown marks, so I wonder whether it cleans properly. On some days the air conditioner made a constant high, mosquito-like whine that kept me awake. The fridge was full of water, and there were no trash bags. Towels had to be picked up at the front desk once a day, one set at a time. There wasn't a bath mat on the first day, though one appeared the next day, so they may simply have forgotten. Guests have to take trash to the small bin by reception, but the other building has no bin, which makes every trip a hassle. The laundry room is huge for no reason, and they could put a trash can there. The indoor slippers were ragged, with their insoles peeling and cardboard falling out, leaving shavings all over the room. The balcony was full of centipedes and gnats, maybe because it's beside a field. Bring your own slippers and trash bags.

I've stayed here often because the price is reasonable. It's near Irabu Island, with a convenience store about a two-minute drive away. Having a bathtub, separate toilet and bathroom, and its own washbasin is convenient. The drawback at this Miskin is no in-room washing machine. There's a paid one downstairs for 400 yen, but two of the dryers were broken. I wish more dryers were working.

I couldn't get over the breakfast arrangement: a manga cafe 2 km from the hotel, seriously? What are people without cars supposed to do? It felt like they were making a fool of their customers. There was also a constant irritating sound of air being sucked into the room, which only stopped when I opened the window to release the pressure, and the shelves were wobbly. There's no service at all. I booked at the last minute, three hours before arrival, for five nights and learned parking was 1,000 yen per day. This is just my personal opinion, but why charge that much for a five-day stay, especially in the off-season when it was empty? A nearby hotel I used the month before didn't charge for parking, and this wasn't Tokyo. There were cancellation rules, but I wondered whether canceling would cost me since I'd booked only three hours earlier. They said there'd be no fee, but when I asked to make it just one night, they said that wasn't possible because it was a multi-night plan. I've never been charged a cancellation fee before, and this was the first hotel I'd found so inflexible.
