Hotel Terrasta Miyakonojo

A beautiful, new hotel in the mallmall revitalisation complex. The decor is modern, and the staff are friendly.

The front desk staff were very friendly, and I appreciated the small touches in the room, like the coat rack and soft lighting that wasn't glaring. Even the bath scrub balls were a thoughtful amenity. The exterior is stylish too, and the hotel clearly puts care into the guest experience. There are lots of good restaurants and tourist spots close by. I'd happily stay here for a night or two on my next visit to Miyakonojo. When I travel in Japan, I try to use Japanese at the front desk since some people may find English difficult, and that has never been a problem. They're really friendly.

The room was thoughtfully designed, with comfortable beds and enough space for our luggage. My only issue was communication: the staff didn't speak English, so we had to use Google Translate. The billing was also confusing. They made a mistake in their own figures and called us to the lobby to settle a small fee, which turned out to be their miscalculation.

The rooms are large and new, and the hotel has a nice modern feel. Still, the stay was spoiled by a payment mix-up. Staff couldn't work out why the amount we paid differed from what Terrasta charged, even though the difference came from a discount Rakuten applied when we booked.
