The Meibia Miyazaki

I had a really relaxing, enjoyable stay, and would love to return. The space has great design and amenities. Staff took my luggage to my room, told me about the area, and even recommended and booked a restaurant for me. The service was top-notch.

For the price, this felt close to a luxury stay, around what I’d expect from a mid-range Marriott. I thought it was absolutely worth paying extra, including for taxis around Miyazaki. The room was fantastic, with a very fancy neorest toilet, and the slippers and pajamas were easily the most comfortable I’ve used across 20 hotels in Japan. I wish I could have bought a set. The pillows were a little firm, but they didn’t flatten like those in most Japanese hotels, so I slept comfortably. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Someone brought my luggage up at check-in, and when I was leaving very early, the front desk offered to open the lounge so I could get a drink or snack. My only other issues were the location, a 15-minute walk from Miyazaki Station and 7-10 minutes from the nearest bus stops, and spotty Wi-Fi in my room, though it was usable. GOTaxi seemed to shut down at night in Miyazaki, but Uber still worked for me. I’m not sure why Google lists this as a 3-star hotel. Maybe it lacks things like concierge service, but the hotel itself felt on the level of a Japanese 5-star place.

The library visit was a memorable part of our stay. A staff member checked that my husband and I had found it, then showed us the chapel area. It was breathtaking. Our room was out of this world, with everything we might need or want, and the facility felt relaxing and very well cared for. Staff were consistently kind and seemed to make good service a priority. We stayed here on our honeymoon and had an excellent time. We’ll work hard for the chance to return someday.

Breakfast was delicious, parking was convenient, and the facilities were well maintained. The staff were warm and friendly, with a real eye for detail that helped everything go smoothly. The place feels fresh and new, and it was an excellent choice.
