Mombetsu Prince Hotel

The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, and late check-in meant we were left with two flat, rock-hard pillows. Guests have to pick their pillows up from outside the rooms, near the elevator on their floor. The room had a musty, strange smell, and when we visited in late May it was stuck on heating mode. The hotel management had blocked the controls, so we couldn't change it, and the room became extremely stuffy. One staff member was particularly unfriendly. At 2am I went down to ask for extra pillows. He said, “Nani?! Tsk,” then shoved a translator app in my face. I asked again, got “no no no,” and he walked away. It was a very bad stay, and I was glad to get out of that room. I wouldn't recommend it. I'd pay more to stay somewhere else.

Mombetsu Prince Hotel We stayed one night last week. The room was really cramped, with little room for two adults to move around, and the fixtures and furniture felt dated. At least the dinner and breakfast were good, with plenty of variety. The location was convenient too, with a convenience store nearby and restaurants and Aeon mall within walking distance.

The breakfast was excellent, tasty, and had lots of options. Parking was plentiful outside, with another lot nearby in case it fills up. The staff spoke English, so I could communicate easily. As a foreigner, I appreciated how used to international guests they seemed, since booking can be difficult at some places in Japan. My son and I really enjoyed the onsen and spent quite a while there. There's also a small outdoor spring, which we were happy to have. The kids' bathrobe is cute, and there are laundry facilities. I stayed for one night in September. I'm not sure why there were pillows in the hallway, but I liked the idea. Stay here if you're visiting Mombetsu!

I stayed one night for my Tokkari Center pilgrimage. The breakfast spread was amazing, with lots of seafood, and the English-speaking staff member at the counter was very helpful. But the non-smoking room smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke it was suffocating.
