The staff at the front desk treated me sincerely and did their best, and the people serving breakfast were really kind too. Still, the owner’s approach to running the place let the hotel down. It feels like a business hotel stuck in the Showa era, coasting on its location near the station while neglecting maintenance and upgrades. A disappointing stay.

The location is great, about a five-minute walk from the station, and there’s a large parking lot, though the entrance is narrow and easy to miss. I stayed here for the first time on November 2, 2025, after a friend booked it for me because I had a drinking party by Murakami Station. At ¥6,400 for one adult in a single room, it was a bargain. The building is quite old. There’s no automatic lock, and the bathroom has tile instead of a unit bath. I noticed mold in several places. The fourth-floor room had decent water pressure, but the temperature kept changing, which was annoying. The room and its lighting were both dim. There are no smoking rooms, though there’s a smoking area on the first floor in front of reception. That day, I saw someone on the floor below smoking with their window open and wondered whether that was allowed. I know I shouldn’t expect too much at this price, but some of it still bothered me.

For the price, I thought it was good. The building is a little old, but I had a great time.

The staff were lovely and made up for the hotel’s shortcomings. Breakfast costs 700 yen, and although it was simple, it tasted really good. I was here on a business trip. The hotel itself is undeniably old, and the room had a distinctive smell that I found a bit much as a woman. The bathroom also lacked a mixer tap, which made things awkward. It’s a little way from the station, but still within an acceptable distance, and access to places like mountain sanctuaries is easy. I’d stay again if I weren’t staying at a hot spring in Murakami. Thank you.

I’d have given it three stars if there’d been a comforter. The lack of one is the main reason for my two-star rating. There were two thin blankets and two sheets, and since I don’t like heating with air conditioning, I left it off while sleeping and got pretty cold. When I asked at the front desk, they gave me a regular blanket. Why not have a comforter? Even detention centers have them! I used the hotel for a business trip. The building is old, but about what I’d expect from a rural business hotel, so that wasn’t a major issue. The reception staff were polite and helpful, and the Wi-Fi worked well enough to watch YouTube and other videos.
