For what we paid, I left feeling disappointed. The room was lovely, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, and the place had a nice atmosphere with pleasant music. The onsen was properly hot and had natural minerals, which felt great after snowboarding. Most of the staff were polite and kind. A lot of basic things were missing for a ryokan at this price. There was no drinking water in the onsen changing room, and the mini towels ran out while we were there, so we had to go ask at reception. Coffee in the shared area cost extra, the corridor hot water dispenser was out of order, and none of the bidets in the shared toilets worked. Our room also didn't have enough yukatas or obis, and there were no cups for tea or welcome snacks, even though other reviews mentioned snacks. At breakfast there were no hand towels, and the drinks and cereal choices were narrower than in the other dining area. We had to haul our bags up to the second floor ourselves, with no easy way to roll them. What bothered me most was the lack of Omotenashi and care with the details. We want to support local ryokans and businesses, but this stay didn't feel like good value. With better upkeep and hospitality, it could be much better.
