Annex Aburaya gave us the authentic Japanese experience we were nervous we might miss on a ski trip to Japan. The food was some of the best we had there, and the hosts were so helpful and accommodating. They even drove us to the train station through a snowstorm. We’ll definitely be back!

The family who run this place are the highlight: genuine, generous, wonderful hosts. We stayed a week and won’t forget the six star experience. The location is perfect, the rooms super cozy, and there’s an onsen. I’d stay here again and again.

The owner and his family are wonderful and do everything they can for you. This great place is listed as Annex Aburaya on booking dot com, and it’s probably the best located accommodation in Madarao for ski-in, ski-out access. Our room had a shower and was large, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with eggs cooked to order. There’s also a very nice natural hot spring bathhouse in the basement.
