Lodge Pico

We had a lovely couple of days exploring Togakushi in October 2024. Mr. and Mrs. Akihisa took great care of us with their cooking, accommodation, and service. If you’re looking for a base for mountain adventures with good food, this place is worth considering.

I used to be a tour guide and traveled all over Japan around 38 years ago. These days I have a different job and use long holidays to travel around the world. I’d been curious about Pico in Togakushi for a long time, and was very happy with both the price and the food. We had dinner and breakfast. This morning my husband ran into a snowdrift, which caused us a lot of trouble, and I’m so grateful for the quick response. It showed as full online, but they answered by phone and we were able to stay this time. Thank you so much.

I was there for two nights for the Shinshu Togakushi Trail Run, and staying more than one night turned out to be a great choice. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent, with lots of distinctive local ingredients. The wife's homemade bread, jam, ketchup, desserts, and other treats were delicious too. I’m usually a small eater, but I ate twice as much as normal. The owner and his wife were very friendly, and I enjoyed hearing their interesting stories about Togakushi. I’ll stay here again for next year’s race.

The room was small, but the food was delicious. The owner was friendly and also worked as a ski instructor.
