It’s peaceful and quiet up in the mountains, with a breathtaking setting close to skiing and a lake. We came in winter, but I imagine the hiking would be fantastic. It’s still really close to Nagano. The food is plentiful and amazing, and the price is good. The people were kind, helpful, and happy to engage. Google Translate came in handy. The place is clean and a little old fashioned, but that comes with exquisite service you rarely see these days. We loved it.

There’s no laundry here, and drinking water comes from the vending machine. The hotel feels dated, though it has a charm of its own. When I visited in May 2026, it was very quiet and peaceful. The room was spacious, the bed was good, breakfast was nice, and the view was amazing.
My daughter and I first looked for somewhere near Nagano Station, but everything was full. We found this hotel instead, about 20 minutes from the station, and booked because the view looked lovely. Sitting by the room window and taking in that beautiful scenery was so relaxing. We’d also been looking forward to the food, and every dish was thoughtfully seasoned and delicious. The Shinshu steak we ordered was great. I liked the room size, too. It was a wonderful trip with my daughter.
Built in the 80s, this magnificent place feels like walking into a David Lynch film. The receptionist was incredibly kind, and seeing the valley and mountains at sunrise from the room was breathtaking. If you stay overnight, ask for a room with that view.
