Toyoko Inn Nagano Station Zenkoji

The breakfast was okay, nothing special, and the dining room is tiny. I’d take a box back to the room. Rooms are small, but they work well for one person. The bed felt on the firm side. I didn’t catch the front desk man’s name, but he spoke English and was very helpful.

My stay in Nagano was really enjoyable, and I’m grateful for the warm hospitality. I checked out on November 2, 2025, and want to thank the woman at reception who helped with my lost item. She confirmed its details over the phone, then assisted me in person when I returned to the hotel. What turned up wasn’t what I’d expected, but I appreciate her effort, and it wasn’t her fault at all. I hope to stay here again someday.

The hotel is great and right by the station. A very convenient spot if you want to visit the snow monkeys.

There’s a secure, self-service locker where you can leave your luggage, which was handy since our train arrived before noon and check-in wasn’t until 4pm. Check-in is done at a machine, but staff are there to help if needed. The room had an ashtray, which I found odd, and smelled slightly of smoke when we first walked in. Still, it was quite clean, including the sheets. Our room had two double beds and not much space for bags. I don’t think it was designed for two mattresses, since there was only one bedside lamp. With some creative maneuvering we managed. It had a kettle, cups, fridge, TV, hair dryer, slippers, a chair, a built-in table, an air purifier, and sanitizing spray. I liked the facial pack you can pick up from the amenities trolley on the way upstairs. Ask reception if you need another pillow. You can control the air conditioning or heating from the room, unlike some places we’ve stayed. The free breakfast was quite delicious. All things considered, you’ve got what you need whether you’re in town for a conference, work, or a holiday. So, so things considered, it’s still a like.
