The journey up to this lively ryokan was part of the experience, and the place turned out to be a hidden gem. It had been recommended to us, and we had a marvelous stay. The friendly, capable staff made it one of the highlights of our Japan vacation.

The bath was clean, the view was fantastic, and we had great accommodation. The food was excellent, too. I hope they’re able to reopen the outdoor baths soon.

The food was good, the place was beautiful, and we had a great time. Everything was good. See you again next year!

The new building’s second floor was so quiet and peaceful, and the stay felt comfortable and lovely even though we only had a short time there. I was traveling with my children, so we arrived late and left early. Next time, I’d like to stay longer and enjoy more of the inn. The food had been carefully prepared and was delicious, and the conversation just flowed. I was too full to try the ash-grilled oyaki, which I had to leave behind reluctantly. I’ve promised myself I’ll have some next time and really make the most of the visit. Walking along the mountain path, I enjoyed the retro atmosphere, the scenery, and the bus stops. Then this big, warm, sturdy old house with a thatched roof came into view, and I got excited about staying there. It’s a lovely, rustic inn with a lot of warmth. ♡ ^^

We spent a wonderful night on a drive date from Azumino to Zenkoji Temple and the art museum. The inn sits deep along the mountain slopes, with a charming old-fashioned feel, high beams, and an open hearth. I also loved the shiny black corridors in the newer building and the tasty meals made with local ingredients. The mineral baths were warm, and from our second-floor room window on a cold morning, we could see a sea of clouds over the distant mountains.
