Shops are all around, and the station is close, which makes getting around easy. The room was smaller than we expected, but it was still a nice place.

There are lots of different restaurants nearby, and the staff are helpful. It’s a nice place.

The biggest issue for me was how cleaning and supplies are handled. For multi-night stays, the room is cleaned and amenities are replenished only every three days. The website didn’t mention this, so I was confused when I came back one evening and found nothing had been replenished. I’d expect amenities daily even without cleaning, or for them to be left at the front desk. The check-in guide mentions the cleaning policy, but it seems odd that it isn’t in the accommodation terms. If they plan to keep this arrangement, they should clearly distinguish plans with cleaning from those without. I’d like an option that includes both cleaning and replenished amenities. Breakfast starts at 8:00, and with one person running it, the wait can reach nearly 20 minutes when it’s busy. That makes the morning feel late and affects later plans. Starting around 7:30 and spreading out the rush would help. The breakfast was much the same each time, and I had the exact same thing on three of my four nights. It wasn’t very satisfying for the price. I’d probably do better at the nearby Sukiya, though having breakfast indoors on a rainy or otherwise bad-weather day is convenient. The hotel is handy for shops and Nagaoka Tenjin Shrine, but the train platform is right beside it and makes quite a bit of noise. There’s also a connecting door between rooms, so noise from neighbors can carry. You may have to accept that. In my single room with a unit bath, the refrigerator was tiny, holding about three bottles, though the size seems to vary by room. The outlets and switches were awkwardly placed too, so I had to get out of bed to use them. It isn’t especially cheap, so if you know the area, hotels in Kyoto City might be another option.

The rooms look stylish, though they’re small, and you can see the station platform clearly from the window. I imagine people there may be able to see in as well, so I wish they’d paid a bit more attention to privacy. The hotel is right opposite Nagaoka-Tenjin Station and seems more geared toward foreign visitors. Still, I thought it was a nice-looking place.

The rooftop terrace was a highlight for me. You can see across Nagaokakyo from up there, and the view in the crisp morning air felt like a real treat. There’s also a guest-only common area on the second floor, which I could use before check-in and made arriving a little early comfortable. With easy access to Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine, the hotel works well as a quiet base away from the bustle of Kyoto city. I stayed at "Discover Nagaokakyo," about a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Nagaoka-Tenjin Station. It’s a casual place suited to sightseeing or business. Check-in is at the reception behind the restaurant "Machi Bar SUBACO." The restaurant staff also take care of hotel duties and were friendly, though the desk is a little tucked away, so it’s easy to miss on a first visit. The simple, modern Japanese rooms have warm wood touches and feel calm. My second-floor room was quite compact, with little space around the beds, and I had to walk across them to get to the back. The sink by the entrance is a clever way to use the space. The rooms are small, but the common area and terrace help make for a comfortable stay. Next time I’d like to eat at "Machi Bar SUBACO."
