It's about a 30-minute walk from Yufuin's main street, and the climb up the mountain makes a taxi my recommendation. The air and views up here are wonderful, though. Having a separate hot spring by the room was lovely, and you can feel the mountain breeze while sitting in the tub.

The bath was fantastic, but the trip was still disappointing. I booked thinking meals were included, possibly because Agoda's listing wasn't clear and so many reviews praised the food. There was only one place to eat nearby, a charcoal-grill restaurant, so we ended up having convenience-store meals in our room. The meal-inclusion details really need to be stated clearly.

The owner was really friendly, and the ryokan was affordable. There isn't a big outdoor bath, so the hot spring is indoors. It was freezing in the room, though. Even with the heater running, I had to sleep hugging a hot pack.

A warm, homey place with wonderful hot springs and very kind staff. It's mainly set up for overnight stays, but when there's space, you can use the family bath. I left very satisfied! ✨
