S Peria Hotel Nagasaki

The staff were nice and the room was okay, but the extra charge felt wrong and wasn't okay with me. I booked a non-smoking room on Agoda, but when I arrived they put me in a smoking room. I showed them the request on my phone, but they said their system listed a smoking room and they couldn't switch me unless I paid an extra 4,000 yen to move to a non-smoking one. That was some BS.

I liked that the bath and toilet were separate. I wish all business hotels did it that way. The pillows could've been better, though. I had to use extra towels as cushioning, even though I know they could have provided extra pillows. Breakfast at the hotel's cafe was okay. I stayed one night, and the room was clean and quite comfortable. It's also nice that checkout is at 11am instead of 10am. 🙂

The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious, clean and modern, and the soundproofing was good. My favorite part was that the toilet, wash basin and bath were all separate.

There's a microwave at reception, and my tiny room had a comfortable bed, separate toilet and bathroom, and a somewhat more modern look and nicer colors and linens than, say, Toyoko Inn. It's a typical Japanese business hotel, functional with lots of amenities rather than charming, and a comfortable place to sleep and rest. The location worked well for me, near two tram stops, within walking distance of the train station, and close to some nice cafes and restaurants. My room looked straight at a wall and the windows wouldn't open. There was barely anywhere to hang clothes, though to be fair I had a lot of stuff with me for a six-week stay.
