Hotel Saint Paul Nagasaki

The location is amazing for a day trip to Peace Park, and the staff were nice enough. For the low price, I probably would have been happy if I had known what to expect. My room had several stains from smoke and bathroom grime. I could tell the cleaning staff had done what they could, and I'm grateful for that, but the Google photo didn't look like my room. Also, all the rooms are smoking rooms. It had the smell of a Showa era building, not terrible, but I wish the listing had said so. Those two details wouldn't have put me off at this price if they'd been disclosed.

It covered what we needed, and for the price this functional hotel is okay. The smell throughout the building really brought the Showa era to mind. Check-in felt a bit dystopian and impersonal. Thanks.

The hotel was in terrible condition, with smoke, mold, and other odors, as other reviewers have mentioned. The customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. I booked a non-smoking room through Agoda for three people. The listing was for a [Standard Twin] with two 120 cm semi-double beds, and said a third person would use an extra bed or sofa bed, as shown on the Hotel Saint Paul Nagasaki site (https://tatsuya.co.jp/). At check-in, the front desk refused to move us to a non-smoking room. They said the original room was smoking and had been repurposed as non-smoking by spraying, but it still smelled of smoke. They also refused a refund. Manager Nakamura said the assigned room was for only two people under hotel policy, so the third person could not stay, even after we showed the Agoda receipt. Nakamura offered two options: all three of us could leave with no refund, or two could stay while the third found another hotel, since no other rooms were available. We chose the second option because it cost less. The third person lost the booking payment at Hotel Saint Paul Nagasaki and also had to book another hotel. If you're a foreigner, I highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. It's not worth staying here even though it's a short walk from the atomic bomb museum. If you decide to go anyway, good luck.

It's a very basic hotel, but the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb museum is extremely close by, so it's a good location if that's what you want to visit.
