Yokotei

Dinner and breakfast were amazing. The food was seasonal and beautifully presented, and the hotel also took care to distance groups during Covid-19. I couldn’t see the Arakawa River from my room, but I could hear it. The building is a bit old, though cleaner than a typical motel in the US. The public bath and onsen area could have been cleaner. I saw a few pubic hairs floating on the water, perhaps because of inefficient circulation, so I’d use the private bath in my room next time. I also wish they sold iced milk or coffee milk on site, since that’s customary after a public bath. Next time I’d buy some at a convenience store and keep it in the room fridge. The location is near Kami-Nagatoro ️ Station, and the popular sights are all within walking distance. I strongly recommend a morning walk along the river. There were few people around, and the sound of the water and birds was really relaxing.

It was unfortunately very dirty, with mold everywhere.

Great onsen, and a nice breakfast.

The food was plentiful and tasty at both dinner and breakfast. The baths aren’t especially big, but the temperature was just right. The outdoor one was particularly relaxing with the trees growing nearby. Open the windows and screen doors and you can hear the Arakawa River murmuring and wild birds calling. It makes for a lovely break from the everyday. This is a long-established hot spring inn, named by the famous Shibusawa Eiichi. The current owner is said to be the third generation. I’ve seen comments about the facilities being old or dirty, and about bugs. To me, the bugs are part of the charm. I’d like to go again if I get the chance. Actually, I’ll definitely go. Maybe in July, lol.
