We were driving and decided to stay the night, partly because Orion Happy Park beer factory was within walking distance. The hotel has a public bath on the top floor, which is why we picked it over the one next door. It was clean, and the water was about 40-41C, just right. Parking was 1000JPY for the night. That’s a little more than nearby lots, but the convenience suited us. FamilyMart is about a five-minute walk away, so that was handy too. The rate felt a bit high. Two nights at my Naha hotel cost the same as one night here at Green Rich. Maybe it was because I booked at the last minute, or because cherry blossom season was coming up. I’d still highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the nearby Orion beer factory.

The parking situation was frustrating. The hotel charged 1k yen a night, but despite having mechanical tower and surface parking, staff told me to use a lot 500m away. It was 10pm and drizzling, and I had to negotiate and plead before they eventually let me park on the premises. At the front desk, the staff member was the worst I’ve encountered in a Japanese hotel. He stared while I spoke, didn’t reply, then walked away. This is Japan, really? I wouldn’t go to Green Rich hotels again. Very poor standard.

The hotel’s in a really good location, but the sink was constantly clogged and the elevator smelled bad from all the mold. Breakfast portions were so small they seemed made just for children.

The open terrace on the eighth floor has lovely views across the ocean and mountains, and the public bath was a comfortable temperature, not too hot. The hotel feels cozy and has all the useful little things, from toothbrushes and toothpaste to coffee and tea bags. It’s a good place for a night or two. A couple of things made the stay harder. There was a bad smell on the second floor, so the ventilation could use work. The doors are thin too: some young guys were yelling and running around at midnight, and I woke up because there’s no sound protection. The biggest issue for me was how the service felt different for us as foreigners. I heard staff speaking very politely to Japanese guests at check-in, but when my husband and I, from the EU, were being helped, their tone changed. I felt mistreated, like I was being spoken to by a strict boss in a meeting. At checkout, a man at reception who seemed Indian didn’t greet us or ask how our stay was. He only said, “Check out here,” took our room cards, and went back to looking at his screen. No smile or goodbye.

The public bath on the top floor is simple but clean, and our room was spacious enough for either a short visit or a longer stay. Staff were really helpful, even though our Japanese wasn’t very good. There are plenty of restaurants around, roughly a 5-15 minute walk or a 5-10 minute drive away. Parking is limited and could be handled better. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.
