New Normal Hotel in NAGO

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The main problem was the guests in the room above us, whose kids ran around and screamed until after 1 am. It sounded like basketball, and sleeping was impossible. The noise started up again at 6:30 in the morning. There’s no staff member in the building to help in person. The hotel uses a video call on an iPad at reception for self check-in, so I called staff twice, at 23:30 and 00:30. They said they would take care of it, but the noise carried on. When I complained again at checkout, they apologized, but that didn’t feel like enough. The system may be unusual, but this showed the real problem with having nobody on site.

The room has a lot of space and the basics are covered, with a smart TV, kitchen, washer and dryer. For an unmanned hotel, it’s good value overall. But the bed and pillows were much too soft for me. I slept badly and had serious back and neck pain for the days afterward. They should consider mattresses and pillows with better support. The air conditioning also felt weak, especially with such a thick quilt.

We stayed in a corner unit with three windows, so it was really bright. The apartment style place felt clean and new, and self check-in was hassle-free. Two things were a bit uncomfortable: there’s only a shower booth, no bathtub, and the kitchen isn’t set up for proper cooking. It had one pot-pan combination, without a lid.

The room had a washer and dryer, and there was plenty of free parking. It’s in a good location, and the rooms have been newly renovated. Self check-in worked fine for me, though I can see it being a hassle for older guests.
