We were looking for somewhere family-friendly because we wanted to visit Janglia Okinawa, and this place turned out to be amazing. It felt like having a private cottage, with plenty of room for all of us. The kids had even more fun here than at Janglia Okinawa, lol. Next time I want to bring along friends and their families too!
I came across this place while looking for somewhere to stay in Okinawa, and the whole second floor was ours. It’s a luxurious cottage, clean like a hotel, and close to Janglia Okinawa, which made it a great base for the trip. Seems ideal for families with children.
I spent three days in the upstairs area. Check-in was at 3 PM and check-out at 10 AM. The door was open, so I used the space without a separate check-in or checkout, and I never saw any staff. I’m not sure if the first floor is where the owner lives. There’s plenty of outdoor space, including a terrace where you can use a barbecue grill, and the washing machine and dryer are free to use. The sea breeze can be pretty strong, so take care. If you like the feel of a traditional Korean pension, you’ll probably enjoy it. A doorbell from a nearby village hall rings every day at 7:30 PM.
It’s a quiet, stylish place with a simple, clean interior. There isn’t much around, but that’s part of the luxurious feel. I woke early to wild birdsong, including a Ruddy Kingfisher calling from the mountain behind the property. It was cloudy while I was there, but with no lights around, I think the sky would be full of stars on a clear night. Kouri Island is less than a 10-minute drive away. You can also take in lovely scenery on a walk from the little fishing port at Untenbara Port.
We had a really fulfilling summer stay with a friend’s family, and both the adults and kids enjoyed it. We grilled, smashed a watermelon, swam in the hotel pool, and looked at the stars at night. We ran into all kinds of creatures along the way, which thrilled my animal-loving son. The owner was very kind and happy to accommodate our requests, and we were grateful. It’s about an hour and a half from Naha and under 10 minutes by car from Kouri Island. I’d recommend it to visitors and people who live in Okinawa Prefecture.
