Anshin Oyado Nagoya Sakae Ekimae

I spent two nights here for a visit to Studio Ghibli Park, and it suited the trip well. The subway line goes to the park, and the sento was great after a day on my feet. Breakfast and dinner are included, though I wouldn’t expect much from dinner. The capsules were clean and spacious, even for a six-foot European like me. There’s a smokers’ lounge on the communal floor, and you can smell it outside the lounge. That was my only complaint. I can recommend the hotel.

The capsules were the main drawback: they were so hot that sleeping was difficult. Several other people mentioned the same thing, so it wasn’t just my capsule. The ventilation was strong enough, but the temperature was still too high. It’s easy to find, near Exit 1 of Sakae station. From Nagoya station, use the back of the train. The staff were helpful and friendly. The lounge and dining area were great, with free miso soup and soft drinks all day, curry for breakfast, and ramen for dinner. Wifi was strong, the facilities were clean, and the sento had good sized baths, both still and bubbled, plus great showers.

I had a good stay. The onsen allows tattoos, for anyone wondering. Each sleeping capsule has a TV with a connected headset, a lockbox, and an outlet for charging devices. I’d highly recommend it for solo travelers.

The name “Premier” fits. The rooms felt less cramped than I’d expected, and many of the amenities and services were better than I thought they’d be. Easily the best capsule hotel I’ve tried.
