Hotel Landmark Nagoya

The rooms were decent, and so was the hotel. I later heard the neighborhood was a bit sleazy, but it didn’t feel dangerous or anything. There’s no coffee in the room, which was inconvenient, though you can get some downstairs in the morning.

Right in the heart of the city, with plenty nearby and a lovely view. The staff were all kind and attentive. I found the hotel clean and pleasant, and thought it was a very good place to stay. During autumn, I paid around 5,xxx yen a night for a room for two, which was really nice.

The room payment was cash only, according to the staff, and they gave no explanation even though this was a large hotel chain. I can only assume they’re laundering money or dodging tax. The staff were rude, the room was dated, and the bed felt like concrete. The rice pillows were uncomfortable too. On top of that, the old air conditioner was loud and erratic, waking me in the night with random noises. Terrible experience. Never again, don’t stay there.

There was an odd smell all through the hotel. At reception, it smelled like chlorine, almost like a swimming pool, and the room smelled strange too. The rooms were quite old, and there were cockroaches.
