Lohas Villa - Hostel

For the price it's pretty good, but there's no kitchen, and the common area gets shut off in the evening for some reason. That makes it a poor choice if you're traveling solo or in a small group and hoping to meet other people at the hostel. I'd pick somewhere else for that.

The room was nothing like the pictures, and the AC situation left me feeling misled. I first booked a small double with central AC, but it was stuffy. I switched to a larger double after seeing that it was listed with AC, only to find there was no AC at all and not even a fan. It smelled like urine, and I paid more for a worse room. The listing on Agoda or elsewhere didn't say the AC would cost extra, and the staff didn't tell me either. If they'd explained that in advance, guests could decide for themselves whether to book. As it was, I felt deceived and really upset. It's cheap, but in summer you may have no AC, and opening the window means mosquitoes. Please don't stay here in summer unless you're okay with that.

It's in a great spot near the center, and the staff were helpful when I approached them, though I'm sure they got my booking wrong. I paid for women-only shared accommodation, but different men were staying in my area each day, which made me uncomfortable. The room itself was essentially a thin mattress on the floor, with nothing underneath, and it was so small. You could hear other guests through the walls. There was only one toilet on the floor for many people to share. The website also doesn't show pictures of the single rooms.

The rooms are unbelievably small, and my luggage wouldn't fit, though I could live with that. What really bothered me was how hot it got. There wasn't even a window to open, and they wanted to charge extra for the AC, which felt like taking advantage of the situation. I can't recommend the place with that attitude, since who knows where else they might profit from guests' problems. After I wrote the review, they turned on the AC, so I'm adding a star, though I'm not sure how to put it.
