What stays with me most is the care from the team. Service felt warm and attentive without crowding us, from local welcome drinks and a chat at reception to hand-drawn maps for walks and runs. When we missed the chance to visit the local shop, they even left kakigori in our fridge. Miyuki-san and Kawanishi-san really show what makes the Nakagawa locals so welcoming, and Linda made sure we knew what the town had to offer. The experiences are put together with local farmers, makers, producers and owners, and you can tell the staff know and love this town. A car helps for exploring the countryside, but with a little notice they can drop you off and pick you up too. The building is a beautiful centuries-old manor, renovated to high modern standards while keeping its original character. The beds, kitchen and bathtub were all top quality, and the design was spot on. We could have stayed in our room and been happy, but there was so much to do. Our teenagers said it was the best part of our Japan trip. It was a totally unique experience, with comfort to match. Impeccable.

There's so much to do around here, from activities and experiences to lovely shops and restaurants, and the property feels part of the town. You can feel its history, brought into modern times without losing its charm. The staff were kind and helpful, and clearly care about both the place and the area. Our room was comfortable, the dining options were great, and the beds were among the best I've slept on. I had a great stay last week and would love to return.

The staff even drove us to an onsen and to the place where we had dinner, which was incredibly kind. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was better than at many five-star resorts. This cultural heritage hotel has a strong sense of history, while the rooms are clean and modern. My family had a wonderful visit.

Linda's lively personality made her a fantastic guide, and she made the trip stick in our memories. Mama K seemed able to be everywhere at once and was amazing. We had such a lovely stay at the iizukatei hotel.
