The room was in very good condition and quite comfortable. The price was reasonable, too.

I stayed in mid-February 2026, and the container setup made for a simple, compact place with the amenities I needed. It had a bit of a secret-base feel, and I was comfortable once I kept the winter cold in mind. Check-in is at the administration building, at the back right as you enter. After using the tablet, you get a four-digit PIN for the container and sauna. In a drawer beneath the reception tablet there are toothbrushes, razors, hairbrushes, nightwear, indoor slippers, and earplugs. That building also has a microwave, a vending machine with sauna T-shirts and shorts for 2,000 yen each, the sauna, and an outdoor bathing area. There's a Coca-Cola machine by the container entrance as well. It helps to pick up any amenities you need before heading into the room. My semi-double room took up one container, about 2.4m x 6.0m. It had a TV, 32L refrigerator, stove, Zubadan air conditioner, kettle, hair dryer, blankets, four hangers, a bath towel rack, and outdoor slippers. In the middle of winter, using the stove by the entrance and the Zubadan together kept the room warm, though the floor still felt cold. You can hear the boiler when the neighboring room uses hot water. The roller blinds let streetlight through, so the room doesn't get fully dark. The light switch beside the bed is mounted high, which meant getting up to use it. The sauna isn't for use naked, so bring a swimsuit or sauna wear. You can buy clothes at the machine in the management building, but there's nowhere to dry them afterward, so take them home wet. The sauna connects directly to the outdoor bath, and cold air rushes in whenever someone goes between them. It didn't feel as warm as the stated 98°C. The unisex changing area has dial lockers, and sauna mats and bath towels are provided. There are two shower rooms facing each other across the corridor, though the traffic flow felt a little confusing. No one else used it on the day I stayed. Given the container layout, separate hours for men and women, or allowing the free rental nightwear to work as sauna clothes, might make it easier and more popular.

The room was clean and larger than I expected, and the gas heater kept it warm. I could drive right up beside it, which made bringing luggage in and out easy. This was my first time at a container hotel, and I found the unmanned check-in refreshingly simple: scan a QR code and go through a few short steps. With a car, a convenience store is an easy trip, and depending on the time, you can walk to the popular soba place across the road. I liked being able to go straight to the room without walking through a hotel lobby, and I'd stay again.

The biggest plus for me was the privacy. During three nights at Hotel Kutekun for my child's Hokkaido-wide soccer tournament, I hardly encountered other guests except in the parking lot. Other parents from the team were staying in the city center, where we sometimes ran into each other at restaurants and bathrooms. Here, I didn't have those awkward encounters, so I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of distance from other people. That privacy comes with a higher price than the city center, though. It's a little out of town, towards Shibetsu and Rausu. A 7-Eleven is diagonally across the street and closes at 11 PM, while the soba restaurant opposite closes at 7:30 PM, so food is easy to find unless it's late. Nakashibetsu Sports Park is about ten minutes away, and the town's restaurant area is a 5-6 minute detour on the way there. On the way back from the park, I found Co-op Sapporo Nakashibetsu Store useful. Around 5 PM on Sunday, prepared foods, sushi, and bento boxes were half price, which saved me money on meals. Our plan was for three nights without cleaning, with a 5% discount. Even so, if you put a sign outside asking for a towel change and garbage pickup, they'll take care of it properly. The front desk amenities include slippers, but they're thin and uncomfortable. For a stay of several nights, I'd bring my own, except in midsummer.
