Guest House Motomiya

We stayed at the first house for a night before walking the Nakasendo trail to Tsumago. The host was warm and easy to talk to, and dinner and breakfast were excellent. The three rooms share bathrooms and showers, but everything was very clean and there was no crowding. The host also arranged to have our suitcases collected from our lodging and taken to Nagiso bus/train station, so we could hike and take the bus without worrying about them.

We stayed in the spacious, comfortable Sakura room, surrounded by lovely quiet and seclusion. Magome is still close enough to walk to. The host was very kind and shared lots with us. We loved the traditional Japanese meals, which were delicious and filling, even for my sons. We had such a nice stay and only wished we could have stayed longer.

Leaving Motomiya, we knew we'd remember the place for a long time. Keiko San was a lovely host, and the setting was peaceful, surrounded by nature and beauty. The food was exquisite, too.

The woman running this place was so generous and kind, and the setting among the rice paddies was beautiful. Our room was large by Japan standards, clean, and comfortable. Dinner was incredible, the best meal of our whole trip, and breakfast was good too. She uses ingredients from her garden. Such a fantastic place.
