The two nights at this ryokan were a highlight of our trip. We loved the beautiful spread of traditional and creative dishes, and the food was exquisite. The staff were warm and welcoming, and did everything they could to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. They offered transfers to nearby Majome-Juku, where we set off along the Nakasendo trail through lovely countryside and traditional crafts. We also enjoyed the onsen and in-house massages. If we’re lucky enough to return to Japan, we’ll stay here again.

A great place to get away from the busy city. This beautiful, authentic ryokan from the Edo period has centuries-old houses and rooms. The traditional ryokan dinner was superb, and the staff were extremely helpful, arranging bus transfers to both Magome and nearby Naegi castle. I’d absolutely recommend it for a trip to the area.

Before walking part of the nakasendo trail, I spent a night here and loved every minute. They picked me up by shuttle at Nakatsugawa station, then took me to Magome the next morning for the trail. The service was superb, the Onsen was wonderful, and the food was delicious with so much of it. It’s a traditional Japanese Ryokan, and the whole experience felt magical. Highly, highly recommend!

We were picked up in Nakatsugawa and dropped off at Magome, which was very kind of them and a great service. Chika, Toru, Masaya, Tomoko were a wonderful team and took such good care of us. I’m so glad we met them. The place feels close to nature, with a lovely little onsen. The food was outstanding, both dinner and breakfast. We chose the traditional Japanese breakfast and really enjoyed it. A lovely traditional Ryokan experience, good value for money, and I’m happy we stayed here.

Masaya Yoshida cooked food that was delicious, creative, and beautifully presented. I also loved the mossy traditional Japanese gardens, which you can look out on from the onsen. The buildings have a quiet, meditative, authentic Japanese feel, and all the staff were very helpful.
