Nagahama Beach Resort Kanon

The staff were so helpful that, when no taxi was available, they drove us to a nearby izakaya. The beach is fantastic and just a two-minute walk away. One thing to know is that there’s no hotel restaurant, so bring your own food and drinks. There’s cold beer in the front office fridge and free ice cream.

There’s plenty of room to spread out, and the room comes with a hammock. Service was great, and they lend out ocean and beach gear for free, including inflatable tubes, snorkel gear, and life vests. The beach is just a few minutes away on foot, and there’s a salt water pool too. Free Blue Seal ice cream every day was a nice bonus!

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, with a stunning view from the room and a beach just one minute away. The staff were friendly and helpful, even trying to help when my car battery died outside their office hours. Free ice cream at the front desk was nice too. Everything here was great.

That private beach is the main reason to come. It’s quiet and remote, with a reef that blocks the waves, and we had it to ourselves. The place also makes a handy base by car for the national park and aquarium, and parking was easy since it wasn’t busy. The staff spoke English really well for such a remote spot. The property has seen better days, though, and it’s buggy. Staff leave the front doors open while cleaning, so bugs and geckos get inside, and there isn’t much you can do about it. The jacuzzi in our room was too beat up to use. There’s no real kitchen, not even a shared one, just a grill you can rent. Nearby restaurant hours don’t match what’s posted, so expect places to be closed by 5pm or not open at all. You’ll need a car. For a night or two to enjoy the beach, it could be great. I’m less keen on it for a multi-night stay, especially if sleeping with critters bothers you.
