Okinawa Freedom

The owners were lovely and welcoming, and sent us off with tasty bananas they’d grown themselves. The place was clean, neat, and had what we needed. You’ll want a rental car. The hotel is farther along a residential stretch, and there’s an unlit Okinawa Freedom sign on the left to watch for. Since the property is up a hill, driving there at night can be a little tricky with no streetlights. That might be a downside, though the hillside setting can also be a plus.

The balcony was a highlight, with a gorgeous Pacific Ocean view from the hammock. Inside, the cabin had a cozy wood smell when we walked in, and the kitchen, cookware, and dishes were all ready to use. The couple who own it were very welcoming and thoughtful about the little details. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you get the chance to visit Okinawa.

The mountain and sea views were stunning, and the place felt wonderfully private. The couple were so friendly that it was almost like seeing an old friend. They kept waving goodbye until we couldn’t see them in the rearview mirror. This was our best stay in Okinawa. Thanks so much, we’ll come again!

I’m so glad I came across this homey spot tucked into nature. The people who run it have such lovely energy, and the peaceful bird and insect sounds, along with the serene views, made it a great place to stay.
