Pension Sunset Beach

Room 106 was a real letdown for me because of the smell. As soon as I opened the door, there was a strong musty odor, and the air conditioner filter smelled bad too. I know Okinawa is humid, but I found it unbearable. Apart from that, I had a good stay and would try a different room next time. I was here in February while camping, when my usual hotel was too expensive. The place is in Nakijin, with lots of nature around, a quiet, relaxing setting, and the ocean just a one-minute walk away. There are a few shops and restaurants nearby. The building feels open, a bit like places overseas, and check-in and check-out are unmanned. For the price, it was good value. Thank you!

I picked this place for its space and low price, since I wanted somewhere convenient after visiting Churaumi Aquarium and before going to Jangria the next morning. The room was a spacious one-room apartment with a unit bath, though the bathroom itself was small. It was quiet enough that I could sleep without hearing noise from nearby. On the day of arrival I got an email with my room number and the code for the padlock on the doorknob, where the key was kept, so I could let myself in without checking in with anyone. At checkout I just dropped the key in the mailbox. There was a microwave and kettle, plus bath and face towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, tea bags, and cups. Parking was available too. I think it was good value for the area.

The room was clean and comfortable, which made me glad I chose to stay here even though I usually try to avoid accommodations if I can. From the hallway I got to see the best super moon of the year, and the beach was only a short walk away, so I took some lovely sky photos. I'd definitely come back to this part of Okinawa.

The breakfast was a highlight. It was served in another building about two minutes away, in a setting that felt like an old Japanese home. The dishes changed daily, with fish, meat, and eggs, and everything was freshly cooked and delicious. I'd definitely recommend adding breakfast. ✨✨ We stayed three nights as a group of two, and I really liked the decor, especially the cute paintings and photos. The bathrooms were spotless, which must take a lot of work in humid Okinawa. When the cleaning staff came on the third day, they even covered the half-finished coffee I'd left on the table with plastic wrap. The owner was warm and kind, too. This was the nicest hotel I've stayed in, and I'd come back on another Okinawa trip. Thank you so much.
