The onsen was a real highlight for me. The outdoor pool looks over the pond toward Komagatake, and the pond is lit up beautifully at night. It was such a relaxing place to soak. Our room was clean and roomy, with a comfortable bed and a little sitting area looking out at the forest. The decor was pleasant, though the bathroom felt dated. Staff even brought our luggage up, which was a nice touch. They were friendly and helpful, but most spoke very little English. The hotel sits in Hokkaido's lovely green landscape and has plenty of space for large groups, plus a big parking lot. The huge lobby, dining hall, and long corridors feel dated, and some carpet looked dirty. Updating the shared spaces would give the place a fresher feel. The breakfast and dinner buffet room has a wide view of the surroundings, including Komagatake when the clouds clear. The breakfast spread was generous and good quality, though the enormous dining hall reminded me a bit of a school cafeteria. We tried the classic French dinner once. The food was good and the service very attentive, and the dining room was stylish, though not really to my taste. We hadn't realized in advance that it wouldn't be Japanese-style, even though we were shown the menu. The buffet dinner was a letdown. We arrived at 7:20, an hour before closing, but some dishes were already gone, and many overlapped with breakfast. We also paid about 42 euros for a bottle of sake, then found the exact same bottle at another hotel for 22 euros. That felt like a rip-off. The hotel bar's hours are very limited and it closes too early, in my opinion. Thankfully, the convenience store inside stays open longer, and there's also a clothes boutique.

One of my favorite hotels in Japan. Just book it, you won't regret it. I've highly recommended it for my fourth stay here, which I make every year. Cheers!

The hotel offers great value for the room rate. The rooms are spacious, with lovely mountain views, and the free shuttle to onumakoen station and snow world is really convenient. A special thanks to the very kind gentleman driving the shuttle. He made our stay much better. It's tucked away in a private, secluded spot, and winter there is beautiful. The onsen facilities are spectacular, especially the views. There's a convenience store in the hotel with a good selection of snacks and drinks, though the bakery items are pricey and not worth it. I'd come back.

The onsen and the scenery are wonderful, but I didn't feel the hotel was good value. The property is starting to look its age, and we ended up spending more time away from it. There's no functional difference between a standard twin and a superior twin, apart from the superior room being on the fourth floor. Breakfast is supposed to run until 9:30, but they stop serving at 9:10. The selection wasn't especially impressive and stayed the same each day. We were there over New Year's and enjoyed a few of the small activities, though they felt a little forced. The snow lantern event, for example, never actually happened. The bakery had a few interesting items, but nothing surprising. A bread-making class would have been great.

The view from the room is amazing, but the buffet food was extremely disappointing. The dishes were the same every day, and it felt like they were catering to large tour groups that wanted quick, cheap meals. I suspect the food came from a supermarket rather than being cooked at the hotel. If you can, it's better to eat elsewhere.
