Great value for the price. YUINOYA blends a traditional Japanese ryokan with a present-day hostel. The 100-year-old building has been fully refurbished inside to cover what you need for a good night’s sleep, while keeping the tatami and futon experience. The staff and owners were welcoming, open and flexible, and also professional. Everything ran smoothly. My favourite Japanese-style hostel :)

I really enjoyed staying here. The private rooms and shared spaces are clean and cozy, and the morning sun coming into the garden and hallway was such a nice view to wake up to. It’s a beautiful Japanese-style hostel run by a lovely family, and the host was super welcoming and upbeat :)

The original goods are lovely, too. Their designs take inspiration from the building and have a warm, inviting feel. Staying here felt like going back in time to my childhood home in the countryside. It’s run by a young couple who were incredibly warm and hospitable, and their young children were adorable. The old house has a beautiful exterior and a tastefully maintained interior. Apart from not having a bathtub, the facilities had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It’s a memorable experience you can’t get in a regular hotel, and I’d definitely stay again if I travel to the Noto Peninsula.

We spent two nights at Yui-sha during a three-day family trip over Golden Week. The old house has a fantastic atmosphere, and it was excellent value. We ordered both breakfast and dinner, and they were tasty and well worth it. It also made a perfect base for sightseeing around Ishikawa Prefecture. The husband and wife were so kind that we’d love to return. The young master and young mistress were incredibly cute, and our family felt relaxed and happy throughout the two days.

On my second stay, I got to have a good long chat with the owners, and now I like this place even more than before. The dorm setup is unusual: thick curtains and individual doors divide it into private sections, so you can relax without seeing anyone. There’s plenty of privacy, and I think it would work fine for a woman traveling alone. The cleanliness is excellent, and the care put into this old house makes it very comfortable. They also have a nice range of local sake, which sake lovers may appreciate. The living room depends on what you’re after. If you like solitude, it may feel relaxing, but anyone hoping to mingle with other guests could find the room too large to connect easily. One of the places I’d recommend in Noto.
