Breakfast was the standout for us. Every dish was beautifully arranged in tasteful little bowls, and the food was superb, with fragrant sesame, seaweed, and a subtle yuzu flavor. It makes sense that people praise it so much. We stayed with our dog in the Western-style room on the right side of the building, one of two dog-friendly sections, the other being a 24-tatami Japanese-style room. Our room had a living room, washroom, bathroom, toilet, and a double bedroom on the first floor. Upstairs were a single-bed room and another double room. We only used the downstairs double. The bathroom and the washroom, which also works as a changing room, were both spacious. You fill the bathtub yourself. The central dining room is roomy and connects directly to the living room. Dogs are welcome there, and there is a separate entrance for the dining room and the Western-style section. For pet waste, there was a small bin in the living room and two bags just outside the door for used sheets. We set up a pet enclosure over a meter across, which made moving around a bit cramped, but the living room was still easy to use and spacious enough. With the generous rooms and excellent breakfast, I recommend it for people traveling with dogs.
The rooms are clean and spacious, and I loved the relaxed atmosphere. The owner's mother is especially kind and wonderful. I'll definitely come back.
The bathroom is very roomy, with fragrant cypress walls. We found it easy to get around on foot: Mt. Eboshi, the supermarket, laundromat, and main street are nearby, and the newly opened Yukotto hot springs are walkable too. The first floor has a spacious living room and a double room; upstairs there's a twin room and a single room. The owner's breakfast was both beautiful and delicious. We stayed three nights, and the menu was changed for us. A great spot if you like having the freedom to spend your time your own way.
Lunch here is a single daily special for ¥1500, and you need to reserve by phone. It's made mostly with vegetables and fruit from Yamagata Prefecture, and was delicious and healthy. The place feels cozy, and I'd happily linger if I had the time. They mainly accommodate overnight guests but serve lunch as well.
