A cute guesthouse with a simple setup and good value for money. The rooms were clean. The lady was nice and showed us to our room, but after that we only saw her once or twice when she came to feed the cats. They’re kept in another building, so there aren’t cats or other animals in the guesthouse. You can use the kitchen plates and fridge if you bring food, which can help on nights when few restaurants in the village are open.

The location was handy and it stayed quiet, which made for a nice stay. It’s a simple B&B with a cat café attached, very much a cute, grandma-style place centered around cats. The cats stayed out of the accommodation area, so they weren’t a problem. Breakfast was basic but pleasant, and the room was clean; we got fresh towels on both nights. The lovely woman running it doesn’t speak English. Just remember, you don’t get a key to your room.

The house is a peaceful place to stay, with plenty of cats and a chance to get a feel for everyday life in a Japanese family home. It’s well placed for exploring Naoshima and Teshima, with the main museums and sights easy to reach on foot, by bicycle, bus, or ferry. The owner doesn’t speak English, but that wasn’t an issue for us with a basic understanding of Japanese customs and how to behave in the house.

A sweet, simple guesthouse in a good spot. The woman who runs it was really kind and made us a lovely breakfast. A good pick if you want somewhere affordable and authentic.

The cats and the location were the only good parts. The place felt dirty and chaotic, and we even found two cockroaches in the room. We love cats, but this wasn’t worth it.
