Nara Hakushikaso

The traditional Japanese-style room was spacious, spotless, and welcoming, and it made our stay memorable. The staff were wonderfully kind, the public bath was relaxing, and the food was delightful. With such a good location, we’d recommend staying here.

The location is very good, and breakfast has a nice variety. We also liked the public bath. It’s good value for the price, and the place is kept clean, but the rooms look quite old and could use renovation. The dusty smell in our room wouldn’t go away, even with the window open for a long time.

After hiking all day, the clean communal bath with all the necessary amenities was very welcome. The private bathroom was a bit small, but we mostly used the onsen. The room and sitting area were sufficient, and the inn was quiet and clean. It’s well placed for JRKintetsu trains, food, and shopping, with Nara Park a short walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had three sitting times and a few set menus to choose from, and every serving was delicious and more than plentiful. The coin-operated laundry was useful too. A memorable end to our Japan tour and walking holiday.

The location is handy for Kintetsu Nara Station and traveling to other parts of Japan, though JR Nara Station is far away. The front desk and housekeeping were top-notch, with a very high standard of service. The hotel is traditional in style and looks older than others we stayed at in Japan. Its amenities are aged but well kept, like the old-style tap mixer.
