The breakfast buffet had both Western choices and some local specialties, and the price was reasonable for a comfortable stay. On my first trip to Nara City, I stayed at “Toyoko Inn Kintetsu Nara Ekimae” and found getting around very easy, with the train and bus stations nearby. Staff were always smiling and keen to help. My room was clean, and having a window meant I could see outside and get sunlight in, which you don’t often find at business hotels. It left a lasting impression.

From here, Nara’s main sights are easy to reach on foot, and there are streets full of restaurants and shops close by. The location is the standout, with a delicious bakery right next door and coin parking in the side streets behind the hotel. The hotel was nice, clean, and easy to use, and the bathroom was very clean too.

The room and service were up to Toyoko Inn Quality, which is good, and the location is excellent, right in front of Kintetsu Nara station and the bus stop for ITAMI airport. There’s a 711 and a good bakery shop right beside the hotel. Prices stay very reasonable even in busy holiday periods, for example, 7,500¥ per night during Obon. I just wish the TV were bigger, since most other Toyoko Inn locations have larger, better ones.

This is the usual Toyoko Inn combination of good service and value. It’s right outside Kintetsu Nara station and still not far from JR Nara station. Most of Nara’s popular sights, including the place with the friendly deer, are walkable. The free breakfast in the morning isn’t as good as it used to be, but it’s still decent enough.

The main downside for me was the hard mattresses. Otherwise, the rooms are larger than at many similar hotels, the wifi is reliable, and the staff speak English. Kintetsu station is just steps away, and JR station is also within walking distance.
