Naruto Grand Hotel Kaigetsu

The buffet was really tasty, and the staff were friendly. We spent one night in a big, traditional tatami room, with a sofa facing the beach. It was lovely, and we could see both sunrise and sunset.

The food was the best we had during our time in Shikoku, and the staff even made us a lovely photo grid with a handwritten note in Korean. That was really touching. They were so kind and welcoming, even though their English wasn’t fluent. We booked because of the open-air onsen. It’s up the stairs, so it didn’t feel crowded, and we could see the bridge, beach, sunset, and sunrise while relaxing in the warmth. Our room was stunning too, with an open terrace overlooking the beach. If you’re near Tokushima or Naruto, you really should come.

The rooftop onsen had amazing scenery, and since it stays open until midnight, we had time to enjoy the view from the bath. We arrived at 10:30, but they quickly got us settled in our room. It was spacious and nice, and we were in the special room. Amazing place, best stay so far.

The outdoor onsen on the top floor had a fantastic view across Naruto Bridge and the beach beside the hotel. Breakfast was a highlight too, with the biggest selection of fresh local vegetables and fish I’ve ever seen, and it was delicious. The outdoor parking is right next door, about a minute’s walk. We got good value for the money: the room was huge and the onsen comfortable. Some facilities are old, especially the lifts, which felt ancient, but everything worked.
