Cottage Luna Garden Nasu

We booked through Rakuten Travel with breakfast included, and stayed with our two toy poodles. It’s more like a vacation rental, so don’t expect hotel-style service. The room was clean and the shower worked well. Breakfast was simple but tasty, made by a former hotel chef. There’s no Wi-Fi, so you’ll need to rely on your own data plan. A shame they don’t have Wi-Fi these days. We paid for the room through Rakuten Travel, but had to pay the pet fee on site. They don’t take credit cards, so bring cash. You’ll also need to bring your own pet food, sheets, and water bowls. The drive in takes you along narrow, winding roads, and there aren’t any convenience stores nearby. Getting in and out can be tricky, so pick up groceries at a convenience store or supermarket before you check in.

The food was tasty, and they brought it to my room. But the room was really cramped, with the bed right by the entrance and no living room at all. I’d expected a good view of the Nasu Mountain Range, but the log cabin in the management building blocked the view from my room. I was disappointed. It seemed there were other log cabins available, but nobody offered to move us.

I brought my dog, and the cottage turned out even nicer than the photos suggested. The bathroom was clean and comfortable to use. The owner was kind and seemed to be taking infection control seriously. It was quiet, with no noise from nearby, and I’d definitely stay again.

We had a barbecue right in front of the cottage entrance and were very pleased with it. The cottage itself was lovely, and the bathroom was much nicer than the shower room I’d expected. The grounds were clean and the dog run was well equipped. There weren’t many other guests, so the night was especially quiet. I’d use the place again if I get the chance.
