The food was generous and tasty, and you can get more rice for free. My child had a good time, and the atmosphere was nice, but I’m not sure I’d want to come back. The shared family baths were a good size and the water temperature felt just right. They supply rinse-in shampoo and body soap, though they’re basic brands, so bring your own if you’re particular. Towels cost extra. The rooms are very small, with nowhere to put luggage, so getting through the hallway is awkward. There were also occasional unexplained noises that woke me up and made me think there’d been an earthquake. Room wear is available for a fee. Accessibility is a serious issue here. The path from the parking lot is narrow and gravelly, and stairs lead to the rooms, which would make it hard for anyone with a wheelchair or stroller. The woman on staff was friendly and easy to talk to, but didn’t offer further help. They still do the mandatory disinfection, which isn’t necessarily bad, but I found it unnecessary to interrupt staff loudly for it.

The location is really convenient for families, and the food was delicious. Both the adults’ and children’s meals tasted great, though my husband could have used an option for a larger serving of rice. Still, neither of us wants to return. My husband was stunned by the service and said he wouldn’t come back, and I agree. We had to leave the property between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for cleaning, even though we were staying several nights. We were told we couldn’t come back to our room, which left us dissatisfied. We happened not to need it until evening after sightseeing, but what about guests who want a longer stay or need to rest in their room during the day? We’d paid the full price. It felt dictatorial and honestly shocked me. There were around 20 guests, about five or six groups, despite the pandemic. The service is a family-run guesthouse and has a lot of room to improve. The toilet seat cover felt unhygienic, and the bath was slimy. I think they should allow at least five minutes for cleaning. Even getting water was a struggle. I was told to drink tap water, but they wouldn’t lend me a glass, and there was no bottled water to buy. At meals there was no water pitcher either, and I got the impression they wanted to push us into ordering drinks. I did order drinks, but I mostly drink water, so I politely asked for some. The interaction felt unpleasant, and they didn’t refill my water when it was gone. It made me wonder if they just didn’t want to wash glasses for all the guests. The whole thing came across as pure profit-seeking. This is just my harsh personal opinion, but I hope it helps.

The man saw me off when I left and took a commemorative photo of me by the hummingbird sign. That warmth is why I’m giving this place three stars. I think it’s a pension run by a married couple, and although the wife seems to be a famous guest, to me the husband is what makes it special. I stayed a few years ago, and the woman was very friendly and approachable. But when I ordered iced tea at dinner and asked for milk and sugar syrup, the syrup was solid. I even turned the bottle upside down and nothing came out. I told her, “I can’t get the sugar syrup out,” and she just smiled and said, “Don’t give up!” without helping. I was left thinking, “Huh?” I’m sorry, but I still think about it every Golden Week. It’s been bothering me ever since.

The owner and his wife were kind, and they cook really well. Everything was kept very clean, including the rooms, baths, and toilets. I’m grateful they even helped me find the attraction my son wanted to visit by showing me the way. The meals were delicious, especially the fish and meat. It seemed like the fish and steaks came straight from the oven to the table. Breakfast croissants were also freshly baked and brought out warm. The bath had peppermint and lavender aromas, and the mineral-rich groundwater stayed warm on my skin after I got out. It warmed me up nicely. Thank you!

We had a relaxing, fun stay, and I’m grateful they welcomed us during the COVID-19 period. The lobby had plenty of books and dolls to keep the kids occupied, and the meals were full of things children enjoy, almost like a kids’ lunch. Both my children and I liked them. I’d like to come back when the weather is a bit warmer.
