The staff made my first trip to Japan feel especially welcoming. I loved the onsen, and the food was amazing too. I’m still thinking about how good the few days I spent here were. Thanks for such a wonderful stay!

The onsen was beautiful and relaxing, and its sulfur spring water left our skin feeling incredibly soft. We also loved the food, especially the eggs, which were exceptionally tasty. My boyfriend and I stayed at Shimofujiya on both our first and second trips to Japan, and the staff worked hard to make us feel welcome despite speaking very little English. One Nepalese staff member spoke pretty good English and helped translate and explain dinner, which was great. We hope we can visit again. Thanks to Shimofujiya for a lovely experience! :)

Getting there was difficult and not much English was spoken, but we found the place enchanting and well worth the trip. Two years ago, we spent a winter stay high in the mountains and loved the private onsen and the hosts’ unbelievable kaiseki dinner. It was an experience of a lifetime that we still remember. The team was so welcoming and friendly. Sugoi!

After skiing at Hunter Mountain, the relaxing onsen was especially welcome. The atmosphere was friendly, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. I’d like to go again!
