The receptionist was kind, and once we found the place, the stay was lovely. I spent one night there. It’s an old-fashioned but charming hotel surrounded by nature, with a private onsen. Finding it can be confusing, especially at night.

The private lemon bath and the onsen’s open-air bath were just what I’d hoped for, which made up for the broken handle on the supplied hairdryer and the shortage of electrical outlets. I got lost too, just as other reviews said. The road is narrow and unpaved in places, so take care driving. I checked in while it was still light and memorized the route. After seeing the Grand Illumination, I managed to get back without losing my way, even in the dark.

Other services were good for the price, and I didn’t ask for a refund because they apologized sincerely when I raised the issue at checkout. But a bee about 5-7 cm long appeared in my room at night. I went to the front desk and found nobody there. There was an emergency number, but I had no signal and couldn’t reach them. In the end, I killed the bee myself and went to bed. If I hadn’t noticed it and had slept through it, it could have been a serious problem.
