Moonoka Hotel Ginza

The room was the biggest we stayed in during our Japan trip, and the area was quiet. We found the place through Airbnb and had seen glowing reviews, so it was disappointing that the pillowcases, floor, and bathrooms weren't clean. We were only given two small towels and two large ones. On the first day, we asked for more towels through the Airbnb app and told the hosts the WiFi wasn't working, but got no response. The mattresses were very soft and felt old and worn. The place does offer plenty of space, which can be hard to find in Tokyo, so I wouldn't tell people to avoid it outright. Just keep expectations in check, especially if booking through Airbnb, since you may not get what you paid for.

There was no one at the front desk during my stay. I didn't see anyone from when I arrived until I checked out four days later. The room had a strange smell when I walked in, and the wrinkled pillows and blankets didn't feel clean. One towel smelled like a mop and was nearly torn. There were three people in my family, and we had three small and three large towels. I messaged on the second day asking for another towel. I was told one would be brought the next day because there was no staff member available, but the next day I got no reply and no fresh towels. We needed towels, so we found a coin laundry nearby, washed them, and put the pillow covers in too. I was shocked by how dirty all the pillows were. Please find another hotel.

The room worked well for our group of three. There was plenty of space, and moving in and out was easy. It came with the main things we needed, including a TV, fridge and microwave. Bottled water wasn’t provided, but we could buy it across the street. We stayed four nights and were happy with the hotel. It’s in Ginza, about a 10-minute walk from Tsuikiji market and 5-8 minutes from the nearest train station. Having a Lawson opposite was handy for picking up food on the go. Since nobody was staying before us, the host let us check in a little before 3 PM. Checkout was at 10 AM.

The room felt fresh and was really clean. I slept comfortably, and the rate was exceptional. The location was nice, too, and there was plenty of space, so it never felt overcrowded even with COVID around. I felt safe and relaxed there.
