Smile Hotel Tokyo Ayase Ekimae

The rooms looked a bit old and dusty, even though they were cleaned every few days. On the plus side, the service and breakfast were really nice, and the staff speak English very well. You can get the things you need, like a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towels and a USB cable. There’s a microwave on the first floor too.

The receptionists were kind and always around, and the room had a nice bed, a little desk, and a window with a view of central Tokyo. There was just enough hallway space to open a large suitcase, though the room itself was small. For one night, it was a decent cheap place to stay. The cigarette smell was almost unbearable. It seemed to come from the toilet, and I had to leave the doors open to fall asleep. The bathroom was tiny and the water pressure kept changing. There wasn’t any bottled water in the room either, so I had to go out to get something to drink. It would be a great place if it didn’t smell of cigarettes.

The location is great, close to subway and JR lines. The room and bathroom are quite small, and both feel outdated. There’s a 100V socket ready for charging, plus a hair dryer. A microwave is available near the lobby, which is a shame.

The rooms smell bad, and I could hear people in nearby rooms. The staff weren’t patient, and the toilet and shower were dirty and smelled awful. The place feels low-tech, and I didn’t feel safe.
