Grand Hotel Fujika

The parking area is roomy, though it seems to close overnight rather than staying open around the clock. My room was in the new wing and very clean. The outside looks pretty average, and the hotel's unusual layout can be confusing. Even on the way to breakfast, you can get lost if you don't stick to the marked route (lol). I was lucky to find a reasonable rate for my solo sightseeing stay, and would be happy to come back.

I often stay here for work. The desk is big enough to work comfortably on a computer, and despite the rooms being a little dated, they're comfortable. The breakfast buffet is delicious, but lately I've been eating too much, so I often book without meals. A reasonably priced, smaller breakfast set would be nice. The parking lot is large, and there's always a space.

The milk at breakfast was the standout for me: rich, fragrant, and much tastier than most store-bought milk. Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9:00, with a fairly average selection. I stayed in a 20m² twin in the new building. The website says it was built in 2015, but the layout is confusing, and finding your way there feels like a maze. Sound insulation was good, though the WiFi was weak and often lagged. The air conditioning is centrally controlled. It was still hot when I checked in, but staff said the system had switched to winter mode, so there was no air conditioning. I had to crack the window to keep the room from getting stuffy. There's free parking with quite a few spaces. The station is a 15-minute walk away; there are lots of izakayas nearby but fewer other restaurants, and a 7-Eleven is three minutes away on foot.

I was here on a business trip in December 2013, in a non-smoking single in the annex. The property has a main building, annex, and new building, and since they keep expanding, it's hard to know which to choose. The main building looks quite old, while the annex rooms are new. Breakfast gets two stars from me for the price and selection. There's an on-site dining area, but it's closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. I used the hair dryer plugged into the mirror on the desk, since there were no outlets in the unit.
