A very friendly attendant helped me rent an ebike for the ride to Cape Nosappu. It was lovely talking with him, even though I speak little Japanese and he speaks little English. The people of Nemuro have been lovely in my experience, and he was another example of that.
It’s inexpensive and well located, with the station and convenience stores nearby. The building is old but clean and not unpleasant, and I didn’t hear noise from the next room, so I was comfortable. I rode a rental bicycle to Cape Nosappu and back, and it seems you can rent one even if you aren’t staying there. Wi-Fi was listed for every room, but I couldn’t connect, haha. Breakfast was a fish set meal with something that looked like butterfish. It was cold and not very tasty, and looked nothing like the website photos, haha.
The staff were very friendly, and I had a pleasant stay without being bothered by noise from the next room. For 6050 yen with breakfast, this guesthouse is incredibly affordable. It’s in a fairly lively area and has plenty of parking. The bath is open all day, and free Wi-Fi is available.
I was very disappointed and won’t stay here again. I booked dinner with Hanasaki crab, but the crab was too salty and not tasty, and I regretted not going out to eat. Nothing else in the meal was particularly good either. I stayed in the new building, where the toilet was a long way from my room.
I stayed here during a cycling trip around Okhotsk. There’s no air conditioning, but 8800 yen including tax for two meals seemed reasonable. Bedding was clean, and both free Wi-Fi and a bath available around the clock were useful. In summer they offer a Hanasaki crab option, which I’d really recommend trying. It costs less than eating it near the station, where it’s 2500-3500 yen.
